The “Vehicle History” system has started working in Poland.
What is “Vehicle History in Poland” and who can use the system?
"Vehicle History" is a service provided by the Ministry of the Interior for anyone planning to buy a used car in Poland, a motorcycle or other vehicle registered in Poland. The data obtained through this service can help in assessing the technical condition of the vehicle, as well as confirm the reliability of the seller's offer. The final report can be easily saved and printed. Information about the car is completely free.
What can you find out in the system when buying a car in Poland?
The system presents information collected from the first registration of a car in Poland to the current moment, in particular:
- Technical characteristics, such as engine size and power and fuel type,
- mandatory technical inspections that the car has passed, including information about the availability of a current inspection,
- Speedometer readings recorded during technical inspections (information on speedometer readings has been collected since 2014),
- information whether the vehicle has valid compulsory civil liability insurance
- number of owners and the voivodeship in which the car is registered
- ownership history - whether the vehicle belonged to a company/organization or an individual,
- is the vehicle currently in the stolen database.
How to get data from the system?
In order to receive data from the system, you need to fill in three fields:
- vehicle registration number
- date of first registration
- VIN number is a unique vehicle number that is placed on the vehicle by the manufacturer.
This data can be found in the vehicle's technical passport and can be obtained from the owner or seller.
How is data collected?
Data comes from the Central Register of Vehicles. This register is maintained by the Polish Ministry of the Interior in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Act.
Data has been transferred to the registry since 2004 through several thousand entities independent of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, using various tools, which in some cases can lead to errors in the data. The system is being improved - we are constantly working to correct errors.
The information obtained as part of the report should not be the only criterion for making a decision to purchase a car in Poland, but it can significantly help the buyer in assessing the seller’s offer.
